The Horn, East, and Central Africa (HECA) Region is the largest region within Oxfam, covering 8 countries, including Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Uganda.
The Regional Centre is based in Nairobi.
We have a mandate to provide leadership and support to the Oxfam country programmes across the region in delivering their strategies within the context of programme quality, and efficiency.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Salary: £33,769 – £45,716Net per annum
Level: B1 (Global)
Contract type: Open ended The Package
An attractive package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
This will include a net salary, meaning that Oxfam will pay 100% of any tax and social security liabilities relating to your employment.
You will also receive benefits tailored to your individual contract including annual leave, flights home, accommodation, education allowance, pension, medical plan and insurances among others.
The Role 
The Deputy Regional Director will ensure and deliver the regional strategic plan through programme quality and impact, the management of key regional resources, and the line management of Country Directors under the assigned portfolio.The Person
Most importantly, you’ll have an unshakeable belief in overcoming poverty and helping the most vulnerable.
Equally important you’ll know East Africa – its culture, its geography, the variety of traditional customs, and its developmental needs and how the programmes that address those needs work.
High-level decision making and superb leadership skills will be essential, so you’ll need to have a track record of leading at a senior, strategic level in a complex, dispersed organisation.
A balance of understanding between humanitarian crises and long term development issues will also be important, as you will be representing Oxfam at high levels in the area.
Finally, you’ll need excellent spoken and written English and desirably French.
