About The Position:
Reporting to the Head of Administration and Finance, the Chief Accountant will hold a critical role in the organization. He/she will successfully manage the day-to-day finances and record-keeping processes of a large and rapidly growing origination.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished accountant, with a deep understanding and track record of managing accounts, who will play a pivotal role in Nuru’s next phase of development.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing our accounting software and making sure data entry and posting is correctly done.
Responsible for Monthly report generation and making sure reports are received by management in time.
Responsible for managing the Administration department budget by making sure over expenditure is eliminated.
Working with external auditors and helping in sorting all queries that the external auditor may need attended to.
Be Nuru Quick book system expert by making sure quick book is well managed and report are produced as required.
Management of program monthly cash requirement and advising the Finance and administration Head on such requirement.
Responsible for internal checks in program and making sure all programs adhere to the laid down financial policies.
Working with procurement department and making sure all procurement procedures are followed before any payment is done for services received.
Managing bank reconciliations and availing reconciled bank statements to the Head of Finance and administration for verification by the 3rd of every Month.
Reconciling all the control accounts and making sure a monthly trial balance and income and expenditure statement per program is generated by the 5th of every month without a miss.
Manage payroll and associated statutory deductions to ensure full and timely compliance with all governmental obligations
Manage and refine Nuru Kenya’s use of QuickBooks to improve efficiency and accuracy of tracking and reporting
Manage and offer professional reviews and professional development to up to 3 direct reports while offering significant down line support, training and supervision beyond these reports, especially within the accounting and cash desk areas
Any other duty as may be assigned by the head of Finance and Administration
Report to the Head of Finance and administration.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
Passion for Nuru International Kenya’s mission and model.
University degree in any business related degree preferably Accounting or Business administration
Full professional accounting qualification: CPA (K), ACCA, ACA
Minimum 5 years professional experience in a busy Finance office
A quick book expert – mastery (Mandatory) Without in-depth quick book understanding and experience do not bother to apply
Experience in internal control systems and procedure in a multinational organization.
Proven Knowledge and experience in companies act and statutory  tax regulations
High degree of maturity, integrity and professionalism
Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate high level of responsibility and multiple priorities.
Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative.
Fluency in English and Ki-Swahili required; fluency in Ki-Kurian preferred but not required
LOCATION:
Isibania, Kuria West District
COMPENSATION:
Salary commensurate with experience.
