CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER; Nakuru based with regular field visits throughout Kenya; Two (2) years renewable contract;
The post holder reports directly to the Board of Directors and works closely with the ExecutiveDirector of Sustainable Community Development Services (SCODE);

SCODE LTD is a subsidiary of Sustainable Community Development Services (SCODE), a reputable grassroots NGO which promotes use of renewable energy technologies and sustainable land use management approaches among grassroots communities in Kenya.
The Role Purpose:
Under the general oversight of the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for:
Providing leadership, setting the company’s strategic direction and executing the overall business strategy of the company
Formulating operational policies and systems
Aligning the company’s objective to the national goals as outlined in the Kenya’s vision 2030
Undertaking institutional risk management
Designing and implementing fundraising strategies for the company
Negotiating with investors/financiers
Develop innovative pro-people, pro-environment entrepreneurial investments and interventions
Establish strategic partners, with specific emphasis on increasing pro-people, pro-environment entrepreneurial investments and interventions
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the daily running of the company under the direction of the Board of Directors
Ensure compliance and implementation of Board policies
Responsible for product development and marketing
Oversee design and marketing of the company’s products, services and programs
Ensure preparation and implementation of work plans, procurement plans, budgets
Set short-term performance plans for staff and consultants
Prudently manage the resources of the company within approved budget guidelines and in accordance with the company’s policies and government laws and regulations
Ensure maintenance of effective external and internal controls so as to safeguard the company’s assets
Oversee annual, quarterly or ad hoc financial audit processes as required
Effectively manage the company’s human resources in line with approved human resource policies and procedures and fully conform to current laws and regulations.
Facilitate availability and development of human resources
Ensure that the company’s vision, mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders – Media, public and private sector as well as the general public
Personal Competencies
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:
Sound personal attributes of leadership, professionalism and integrity
Tact, negotiation and decision making skills
Proven performance management/contracting skills
Knowledge in quality management systems
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build strong, motivated, results-oriented team and work in a multicultural environment.
Education and Work Experience requirements
Masters Degree from a recognized university in Business Administration, strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Finance or any other relevant field
Experience in business strategy formulation & implementation, operations management and building of partnerships
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience at senior management position(s) in a reputable company in the private sector
Thorough knowledge of financial management and procurement regulations, policies and procedures
Experience in micro, small and medium entrepreneurship development
Membership to a professional body will be an added advantage
Shortlisted candidate will be requested to provide the following:
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) clearance certificate where applicable
Certificate of Good Conduct (Criminal Investigation Department Clearance certificate)
Kenya revenue authority (KRA) tax compliance certificate
Credit Reference Bureau clearance certificate
