APHIAplus Imarisha is an AMREF led USAID-funded integrated health program in the Northern Arid Lands Region, implemented by 6 consortium partners.
The program operates in 8 counties of Turkana, Isiolo, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir and Tana River.
Within the consortium, BroadReach Healthcare has been charged with the responsibility of working with the private sector in health care, coordinating, tracking and implementing innovations within the consortium and facilitating Capacity building for the County Health Management Teams.

BRHC is recruiting for a Senior Program Officer (SPO) to be based in Garissa town but supporting four Counties of Garissa, Wajir, Mandera and Tana River.
The key role for the position is to work with healthcare leaders, such as private health sector players, Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to support improved access and quality of health services.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Team lead; the Senior Program officer shall be responsible for:
Identifying, planning and implementing interventions aimed at health systems strengthening for private health service providers
Providing programmatic leadership to program officers based within his/her region
Providing strategic direction for private sector engagement in health, implementing and tracking program innovations and capacity building for County Health Management Teams within his/her region
Working with staff from consortium partners and other players to ensure availability of and access to high impact interventions in private health service facilities
Engage with and partner with regional health stakeholders including other USAID funded programs to ensure efficient and quality health service delivery by private health service providers
Advocate for and promote private public partnerships in health service delivery within the region
Working with the County Health Management Teams within the region to ensure supportive supervision, mentorship and other technical assistance services reach the private sector players
Participating in and sometimes providing leadership in regional consortium wide planning and reporting processes and meetings
Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Team Lead
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing or in a Health related field with 7 years of relevant experience (Diploma in a related field and 10+ years’ experience will also be considered); a MPH will be an added advantage
Experience in public health programming with special preference to experience in HIV/AIDS, reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health programming, preferably with a USAID implementing partner
Experience working with the private health sector and/or commercial business a plus
Willingness and ability to work in Northern Kenya
Understanding of key stakeholders, geography, culture, and institutions in Kenya, preferably Northern Kenya
Demonstrated strong communication, interpersonal and diplomacy skills with the proven ability to foster good will and build consensus at all organizational levels
High level of computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)
Fluency in written and spoken English
Desired Skills
Comfortable in rapidly changing and uncertain environments, including multi-tasking
Able and willing to travel extensively, as work demands
High level of professionalism and leadership combined with a passion for health issues
Self-motivated with a strong entrepreneurial spirit
Fluency in Northern Kenyan dialects
