How To Get Driving Jobs in Kenya

By Tabitha Makumi,
Most driving jobs in Kenya can be found in the transport industry especially in the matatu business where they do not ask for much as far as requirements go….a driving license, some years of experience in the industry and you are good to go.
Driving jobs vary greatly depending on the type of vehicle which you will be driving or the goods or people being transported.
The typical drivers’ jobs can range from company drivers who deliver people to private destinations including from work, to home to delivery driver jobs that are required to deliver food, pharmaceuticals, furniture to truck driver jobs who will drive for hours along our highways transporting goods regionally or nationally to cab drivers
So how do you get these driving jobs?
First off you will need your driving license and years of experience to go with it. For example,   Nairbi Java House are looking for experienced drivers to support their logistics department of Nairobi Java House.
As of their requirements to get the driving job, they are looking for a driver who is willing to work both day and night shifts for deliveries and staff movement.
You will have to note that in most cases, companies and individuals are only willing to hire someone who has a clean driving record and a certificate of good conduct
Another requirement you will need to get driving job is a knowhow the Kenyan roads. You need to know which road connects with which and which ones to avoid because of traffic jams especially if you are a delivery driver.
Now, there are a lot of Kenyans out there who are looking for driving jobs so you will need to stand out if you want to be successful.
So, when it comes to applying for these driving jobs you will need to list all applicable experiences which will make you stand out from other drivers. If you have any safety or driving awards, and endorsements mention them.  If again you have references from your last employer or from teachers from a driving school, attach those as well.
Look for jobs on the daily newspapers, check with various companies and see if they have any open vacancies, go door to door if you have to and lastly subscribe with job sites so that you can know of any vacancy that arises and apply as soon as possible and one last important thing, just because you are applying for a driver job doesn’t mean your CV has to be shoddy, to be on the safe side, perfect your CV and Cover Letter to be successful in your job search.

5 Positive Thoughts As You Search For Success

The road to success is not smooth. Making something out of yourself in our high rising society can be intimidating. With all of the stress that the world puts on becoming successful, we can often get discouraged.
Keeping a positive mind will set you down the right track to obtain the goals you aspire to achieve. Keeping these 10 thoughts in your mind daily will simultaneously intertwine subtle excitement for the future into your daily life and add confidence into to your future.
Here are five positive thoughts which will put you on the path of greatness as yo move towards reaching your goals.
1. Realize that greatness does not happen overnight
As a society that has grown well-acquainted to the demand for quick access, we often forget that a career is not something that we can receive at a drive-thru. Of course it is frustrating to desire something so badly and feel as if it will take years to obtain it.
But, that long wait provides a perfect amount of time for us to exercise our love for what we are looking to achieve. If you continue to strive for the same goal, no matter how long it takes, then you are truly dedicated to what it is that you want.
Job-Finding-Success
“Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.”
-Earl Nightingale
2. Rejection is inevitable, but it shouldn’t stop you from achieving what you want
Every day, millions of people hesitantly step into the world of business, fashion, medicine, etc. These hopefuls ironically fear what can go wrong rather than what can go right. While the emptiness that rejection leaves us with is like a gash to the heart, it is also a wake-up call.
Being turned down from one company does not mean you are not suitable for the job. Being turned away from your top choice of college does not mean you do not have potential or brains. It is up to YOU to take that rejection, toss it to the side, pick yourself up, and go out and try again. Look at it as a bump in the road rather than a dead end.
Let rejection build you up, not negatively dictate your future. Afterall, Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper for “lacking creativity.”
3. Be an opportunists as they set the grounds for society
Those who go out there and make the best of what life has to offer are the happiest. You may get the feeling that there will be no more job openings or internships in your field by the time you are eligible for them. Right? Wrong.
We live in a prosperous world that grows with every passing minute. There will always be new opportunities out there. If you mold yourself into one of these kind of people, you will eventually and surely receive what it is you are looking for. Opportunities are everywhere. Seek and you shall find.
4. Know that taking risks isn’t always bad
Taking your confidence and turning it I to risk taking is an excellent attribute. Risks are scary to most, for it takes one out of their comfort zone. This being said, stepping out of your comfort zone is a step in the right direction. Life begins when you remove yourself from what you’re used to.
Tell yourself that it’s okay to enter new territories! Travel. Take chances. Do something that you’re scared of. Set up a job interview with a prestigious company. Put yourself out there without fear.
5. Reward yourself  when you reach a milestone
The road to your future doesn’t have to be strictly stiff business. Giving yourself leeway for pleasure will help you stay on track. Set smaller goals on the road to your large goal. When you land an internship, treat yourself to a nice pair of shoes.
When you get a raise, reward yourself with that watch you’ve always wanted. Praising yourself for your accomplishments will help you stay focused to keep working as hard as you can. Remember that you are a human and humans need self-fulfillment to progress.

Monthly Salaries For ACAA Members Highest Paid Sh 250K

Accounting is one of the most sought after jobs in Kenya as it not only generates financial rewards but also offers diverse career opportunities over many sectors
The job market in Kenya has become very competitive and students taking academic programmes and professional certifications have an edge over others.
Professional certifications in Accounting or any given sector give you the hands on skills that you do not get in your academic learning hence you get more focused.
In Kenya, Accountants get professional qualifications either in ACCA which is a London-based professional certification or Certified Public Accountants (CPA) examinations which are administered by KASNEB.
Qualifications alone is translated to better pay in many companies, so which of the two accounting certifications has long-term benefits to members in terms of career prospects, including salaries and bonuses?
A survey on salaries, carried out last year, by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), shows that two-thirds of its members globally received a pay increase of at least six per cent last year
The survey carried out in 23 countries, including Kenya, recorded pay rise in 63% of the respondents.
Here is the monthly salary of ACCA Members across different levels of management in public sector, private, corporate sectors as well as In NGO’s.

The highest paid individuals with the qualification earn between Sh180,000 and Sh250,000 per month and hold the positions of financial managers, senior analysts, internal auditors and senior finance officers in the not-for-profit sector.
In the corporate sector and in financial services, this group earns between Sh60,000 and Sh250,000.
The least paid of ACCA’s graduates are accounts, finance and audit assistants in the public sector, who earn between Sh16,000 and Sh80,000 per month.
The survey did not compare the increase with that offered to members of other accounting certifying bodies such as the Certified Public Accountants, which is specific to Kenya.
