Savannah Cement is the newest cement company in the Kenyan market having completed a state – of – the – art Greenfield Cement Grinding Plant in Athi River, Kenya.
The plant employs the latest cement technology in the market to produce 1.5 million tonnes of the various cement products per annum for the Kenyan and regional market.
Savannah Cement is seeking to recruit highly motivated, dynamic and innovative result oriented professionals, seeking a thrilling and fulfilling experience, to join the company in the following position:
Security Officer
Reporting to the Safety Health Environment Manager, this role will supervise all the activities of the contracted service provider and will look after the interests of Savannah Cement and will be the main point of contact in the event of any emergency or security incidents that occur on site.
Responsibilities
Pro-actively ensure the protection of merchandise, property and assets.
Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
leads the operation of emergency action plan in case an emergency situation arises to include: fire, floods, robberies, accidents, security equipment failure.
Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.
Completes weekly and monthly reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
Accurate reporting alt incidents to senior managers.
Monitoring and operating CCTV and other recording systems and maintains a safe and secure environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
Maintains organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Prevents and detects offences on site and undertakes investigations into reports of security incidences and provides preventive approach solutions.
liaise with police in investigation of all security breach, traffic accidents, arrests, loss of property and attends court when necessary in the interest of the company.
Monitors on a daily basis all company security systems to include: perimeter walls, contracted security guards, alarm systems, burglar proofing, office security; lock and key procedures and ensures security intelligence surveillance is reasonably valid.
Implements the Savannah Cement Security policy in all operation areas.
Ability to work long hours without supervision; and
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a business related field with professional qualifications in Security. First Aid certification is mandatory.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a reputable commercial organization with exposure to most or all the above job requirements.
Good observation skills and fully aware of arrest and restraint techniques.
Good understanding of health and safety issues.
Experience of monitoring and controlling security equipment.
Focused on the delivery of excellent customer service.
Computer literate, able to use MS Office and also visitor management systems.
Ability to monitor information feeds simultaneously from multiple sources.
A high level of unquestionable integrity, excellent conceptual, reporting, communication, team relations, analytical, planning and coordination skills.
An attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the job and the experience of the individual will be negotiated with the right candidates.
