The position is based in Nairobi with considerable travel to the field.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of professionals working in Eastern Africa as part of a larger international NGO with presence in five continents.
Requirements
- The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leading ME&L at senior level in the international development sector;
- Proven project/programme management and research experience including programme design, project cycle management and grants management;
- Ability to collect, collate and assimilate information from various sources and present to others effectively and strong competence in managing M&E database systems.
In addition, s/he will:
- Have the ability to lead and build the capacity, advise and train programme teams in a range of project and programme management issues including setting indicators, M&E procedures and documenting best practices
- Be results oriented with strong analytical and report writing skills
- Have excellent written and verbal presentation skills
- Have proven experience in planning, organizing and conducting project evaluations.
The successful candidate should hold a Master’s degree in development or relevant field; postgraduate diploma in programme management or M&E; must have at least seven (7) years relevant experience three of which must have been at middle management level; must have proven experience in strategic planning, project management with bias to ME&L and financial management.
The role
The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will lead, develop and manage ME&L and ensure timely submission of high quality programme reports.
The incumbent will ensure compliance to organizational and donor standards; assist development of concept notes and proposals with special emphasis on ME&L.
S/he will also be responsible for ensuring integration of Practical Action’s priorities and cross-cutting themes of Markets, Gender, Climate, Practical Answers and Value for Money in all Programmes; manage day-to-day operations of M & E system and support programmes teams in continued implementation of M & E tools and instruments.
S/he will also be responsible for ensuring proper coordination and effectiveness of quarterly programme review activities that deliver high quality review reports for the region.
