Most importantly, you’ll have an unshakeable belief in overcoming poverty and helping the most vulnerable.
Equally important you’ll know East Africa – its culture, its geography, the variety of traditional customs, and its developmental needs and how the programmes that address those needs work.
High-level decision making and superb leadership skills will be essential, so you’ll need to have a track record of leading at a senior, strategic level in a complex, dispersed organisation.
A balance of understanding between humanitarian crises and long term development issues will also be important, as you will be representing Oxfam at high levels in the area.
Finally, you’ll need excellent spoken and written English and desirably French.
